Complex Chemical Company of Tallulah, Louisiana has awarded a new fire and life safety project to SDG, LLC. The scope of this project includes a complete Hazardous Material Audit and due diligence report for recommendations to maintain and enhance the level of fire and life safety at their facility. System types will range from active special hazards systems such as water mist, inert gas and foam water spray to passive systems including storage configuration models and increased control area modifications. Projected start date is April 2012.
SDG, LLC has been awarded a Fire and Life Safety Master Plan project by Montgomery Chemical in Philadelphia, PA. This project will encompass a complete facility evaluation for the evaluation and upgrade of fire and life safety systems that currently exist. Deliverables will include a Hazardous Material Audit along with due diligence reports for recommended revisions to current storage and process configurations along with water supply requirements for both city and site utilities. “This project will not only require open collaboration between SDG and the client but an open line of communication with the local jurisdiction as well” noted Steven Scandaliato, the project principal. Projected start date is April 2012.
Chevron USA has awarded SDG, LLC. of Tucson, Arizona the Loading Rack Fire Suppression System Upgrade project located at the Port Everglades Terminal in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This project includes the development of the RFP package and contract administration for the fire protection upgrade to two existing fuel loading racks. The scope involves demolition along with revisions to existing fire suppression and detection systems. New system design includes upgrades to new flame detection systems along with dry chemical and water-based foam systems. SDG will be the prime consultant for the project. Projected completion is July 2012.
SDG, LLC of Tucson, Arizona is awarded second major oil/sands mining project in northern Alberta, Canada. Worley Parsons Canada has announced the life safety and fire protection portions of Suncor’s new mining operation at Fort Hills, Alberta will be provided for by Atkins Global, a Houston, Texas based engineering firm. In cooperation with Orcus Fire Protection, LLC, also of Houston, Texas, SDG will provide active and passive fire protection engineering and design for FEED deliverables in the first phase of development. Project deliverables include design philosophies, basic engineering narratives, P&ID’s and specifications for all active and passive fire protection systems. Estimated construction is over $10B with an anticipated completion of first phase deliverables in 2013.
Scandaliato to speak at The Fire Suppression Systems Associations (FSSA) 2012 Annual Forum at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, California on February 26, 2012. Steven will be speaking on “The Liability for the NICET Designer”. His presentation will present some compelling information on how NICET technicians unnecessarily take the responsibility/liability that more properly and appropriately should be that of the professional engineer. The FSSA is an organization of manufacturers, suppliers, and designer-installers, dedicated to providing a higher level of fire protection. FSSA members are specialists in protecting high value special hazard areas from fire.
